Somerville Auditorium UWA

Local Business, Perth, WA, Australia

The historic tree cathedral at UWA, home to the Perth International Arts Festival LotteryWest film season.

In 1927, William Somerville conceived the idea of a venue defined by a cathedral of Norfolk pine trees. Today the venue is best known for the Perth International Arts Festival's Lotterywest Film Season from November through to April each year.
With accommodation for 1000 patrons on deckchair-style seats as well as 200 grass seats, there is no better venue to enjoy a film on a warm Perth evening.
Picnicking has become a traditional part of the pre-film entertainment and is a great way to soak up the ambience. The Somerville is licensed with a comprehensive bar, has delicious dinner options, snacks, ice-creams and coffee.
The venue is also renowned for the annual In the Pines music festival organised by local community radio station RTR FM.

Tickets for each night's screening are on sale at the door, or film vouchers can be purchased in advance from Perth Festival. Vouchers are not date stamped, and may be used on any one night, to any film. ||

The gates open at 6pm for picnickers, with the film starting at 8pm. From early March the film starts at 7.30pm. Check the Festival website at perthfestival.com.au. ||

Entrance is first come, first served. Saving seats for other patrons does not guarantee them entry. You must exchange their vouchers at the door or pre-purchase a ticket for them at the ticket counter. Failure to do this will mean that when the Somerville is sold out, they will not be able to enter.
